Explore the Automobiles of the Past

Car loving kids will go crazy for Gilmore Car Museum! The 90-acre museum has eight restored 19th century barns that are used to house car displays, multiple brand new buildings, an authentic 1940s diner, a 1930s replica Shell gas station and a train depot from the 1890s.

There are nearly 400 automobiles on display, with the oldest car being a 1899 Locomobile Steam Car. Displays include the Classic Car Club of America Museum, Pierce-Arrow Foundation Museum, Midwest Miniatures Museum, The H.H. Franklin Collection, Model A Ford Museum, Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum, Cadillac-LaSalle Club Museum, Checker Motors Historical Records & Archives.

One of my favorite exhibits is the their collection of mascots and name badges. Automotive mascots served as the only personalization many cars could have back then. All are unique and describe the personality of the owner. Gilmore Car Museum is home to over 1500 mascots and name badges, one of the largest collections in North America.
