Geocaching: The outdoor sport or game of searching for hidden objects by using Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates posted on the internet.
What you'll need:
- A GPS device or application for a smart phone
- Log onto www.geocaching.com and create your free account.
- Use the given coordinates (found in downloadable brochure) to find the area of the hidden cache.
- Once found, a cache will contain a log book, write down your account name and the date you found the cache.
- If there is an object in the cache, and you take it, you must replace it with something of equal or greater value.
- Place the cache back exactly as you found it.
- Report your findings online.
WIN! Check back in spring 2012 for an all new prizes and challenges! As you go, mark down the special codes on each cache! Once you complete one series, a second, and finally the third, bring your sheet in to the CVB (77 E. Michigan Avenue, Suite 100 Battle Creek 49017) and receive your prizes! After completing all three series, you will be entered to win an overnight weekend in Battle Creek/Calhoun County! This contest expired 10/31/11, so be sure to find all caches, and be registered to win now!
