The 135 acres, is owned and administered by Albion College as an outdoor education facility. Features include 6 miles of hiking trails, oak-hickory and floodplain forests, extensive marsh and swamp lands bordering the east branch of the Kalamazoo River, a wildlife habitat improvement area (4 small ponds and vegetation for wildlife), managed tall-grass prairie, an arboretum of Michigan trees and shrubs and 34 acres of farmland for experimental plantings and other research projects. Nearly 400 species of plants have been collected and over 160 species of birds cited in the area.
