The summer heat has finally made its way to Michigan! Chances are, you are looking for something to do on a hot day in the Battle Creek area. Here are 4 things to do in our area on a hot summer day. Willard Beach
This popular Battle Creek beach is located on Goguac Lake. The beach was recently renovated and moved to a new location to avoid passing speedboats. There are multiple pavilions that are available to hold parties or get some shade. Bring your picnic basket, sunglasses, bathing suit, and sunscreen because you will have a blast at Willard Beach!
The cost is $2 for an individual or $5 for a vehicle of 3 or more people.
The area’s only waterpark, Flash Flood offers an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor space features two 200-foot water slides, a water playground and zero-depth entry pools. The indoor pool features two 100-foot water slides for cooler days. This Battle Creek staple is a perfect place to cool off on a hot day!
The cost is $9 per person
Ice Cream
One of the best ways to cool of is of course ice cream! The area has many delicious ice cream shops. Here is a list of a few:
- Station 66 (Battle Creek)- Located off M-66 in a renovated 1940’s gas station, Station 66 has the amazing Ashby Sterling Ice Cream. One of my favorites is “Scouts Honor”, a new twist on mint chocolate chip using Thin Mint Cookies.
- Side Track Ice Cream (Marshall)- This delicious Ice Cream Parlor serves lots of cold treats to keep you cool this summer. Choose from soft serve, 28 different hand-dipped flavors, slushies, malts, milkshakes and more!
- Cool Mama’s Ice Cream- Located inside Continental pastries, Cool Mama’s is the newest spot in town. This business originally got its start as a traveling food truck and recently added the retail space. The specialty they are known for is the SpongeBob SquarePants Ice Cream Bar.
A little farther out of Calhoun County is a splash pad! This new favorite features in-ground and aboveground water spray elements. Your kids will have a blast getting to cool off in a splash pad.
Entrance fee is $5 per carload.
