Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub in downtown Marshall has a long-standing tradition when it comes to the holiday season. This year, there are more reasons than ever before to make Schuler’s part of your seasonal plans with family, friends, colleagues and the community.
1) Holiday Bottle Tree
Don’t miss the chance to see this 8-plus-foot tall bottle tree on display the Schuler’s lobby. It was created with help from Serendipity Boutique, together with Magnum Metal, and includes hundreds of lighted bottles fashioned into the shape of a Christmas tree.
Can you guess how many bottles were used to create this tree? The person with the closest guess will receive a special gift. And, if you enjoy a bottle of wine during your dinner at Schuler’s, you’ll be invited to sign your bottle and have it take the place of one of the non-personalized bottles on the tree! From those who participate in this promotion, a drawing will be held each week until Christmas with a special gift awarded. Of course, the tree also makes a great backdrop for a holiday photo while visiting Schuler’s.
On select nights in December, Schuler’s welcomes holiday carolers to its festive Centennial Room. Enjoy the musical sounds from area choirs, choruses, ensembles and carolers, with performances beginning at 7pm (reservations are strongly encouraged). The performance schedule includes:
· Thursday, December 3 Battle Creek Girls Chorus
· Monday, December 7 Ars Voce
· Tuesday, December 8 Battle Creek Boys & Young Men’s Ensemble
· Wednesday, December 9 Marshall Singers-Dickens Carolers
· Tuesday, December 15 Classic Singers
· Wednesday, December 16 Battle Creek Community Chorus
· Thursday, December 17 Marshall Singers-Dickens Carolers
3) Holiday Shopping
Stock up on your favorite edibles, like seasonings and spices, Michigan maple syrups, freshly-ground coffees, delectable relishes, house-baked artisanal breads, American Spoon jams, toffees, candies, nuts and so much more. You can also find a variety of Schuler’s-inspired logo glassware and mugs, cutting boards, t-shirts, polo shirts, blankets, caps and Michigan oven mitts.
Spread smiles and cheer by sending a customized gift basket to someone near or far. These made-to-order and pre-packaged baskets include both perishable and non-perishable items—anything found in the on-site store. A friendly Schuler’s staff member can assist you (either in person or on the phone) in creating the perfect, personalized basket to be shipped on your behalf.
Of course, there are also always Schuler’s gift cards. Buy cards totaling $100 to $299 and receive a bonus card equal to 15% of your purchase. Buy $300 or more and receive a card equal to 25% of your purchase. Gift card purchases are available through December 31, 2015 (and bonus cards must be used by March 31, 2016).
4) Holiday Meals
While Schuler’s is closed on Christmas Day (the one day of the year they do so), you are invited to spend Christmas Eve in the warm comfort of this 1909 restaurant. A white tablecloth dining experience, with a special holiday menu, awaits you and your family. Service begins at 11am, with the last seating at 8pm. Schuler’s also offers a special holiday Sunday brunch buffet, served from 10am until 2pm, through January 3.
5) Holiday Events in Downtown Marshall
Every December, for more than three decades, the Marshall Historical Society has offered an annual Candlelight Walk. These two-hour guided walking tours feature several historic homes decorated for the holiday season, with the homeowners and their families offering personalized tours of each home. This year’s tour is being offered December 12-13 and include the Snodgrass Home, an 1862 Greek Revival-style frame home; the Swender Home, an 1893 Queen Anne-style home; the Dupee-Daus Home, a 1940 Brick Georgian; the Rector Home, an 1870 Midwest family home; and the two luxury Serendipity Apartments located upstairs of the 1856 building which houses the Serendipity Boutique on the main floor. At this time, three of the four tour times are sold out (but a waiting list is available) but ticket remain for the Sunday 6:45pm walk. The cost is $25 per person.
