The dinosaurs have arrived at Binder Park Zoo. You have a chance to see them until Oct. 24 – the zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.
Follow the trails to discover a T-rex or a parasaurolophus. Take a picture with the three allosaurus – like the dinosaurs Chris Pratt trains in “Jurassic World.”
Kids can dig for bones and put together puzzles. There is a prehistoric snake to climb over and a big slide nearby.
Make sure to bring your camera, because there are plenty of photo opportunities.
Zoorassic Park is part of Binder Park Zoo’s mission to combine fun and education, while taking care of the natural world.
“Dinosaurs were successful and adaptable and the story of how they lived and became extinct can tie the timeless fascination of that story to the message of modern day conservation,” according to a press release.
Local organizations, such as the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau, helped to fund the dinosaur sculptures. Lowe’s provided a boost to the project with a Hometown grant. The local store provided volunteers to help get the infrastructure ready for the dinosaurs.
Kelly Flees, pro sales specialist, wrote a 12-page proposal about how Binder Park Zoo made Battle Creek special.
“Memories,” she explained. “And it’s not just for the children. This is the happiest place in Battle Creek. My children grew up here. There’s so many happy memories that took place here.”
Zoorassic Park is a permanent exhibit. If you can’t catch it this year, the dinosaurs will be ready for you in 2022.
