Great Escape proudly presents “A Year with Frog and Toad,” based on Arnold Lobel’s treasured characters in a musical, whimsical story of friendship and adventure.
Featuring a jazzy and upbeat score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. The show was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical.
Waking from hibernation in the spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn lessons about life along the way.
Lobel (1933-1987) was an American author and illustrator of children’s books, including the “Frog and Toad” series and “Mouse Soup.” Lobel won the 1981 Caldecott Medal recognizing the year’s best-illustrated U.S. picture book.
