The fun doesn’t stop just because it’s winter. Try these three cool events in Calhoun County in order to bring the heat.

Ice, Wine, Beer & Blues - Jan. 30-31

Admire the ice sculptures throughout downtown Marshall while checking out businesses along main street.

The first night of this event is a wine and beer tasting. Purchase drink tickets, or memorialize the night with a collectible goblet. You can try up to 10 different samples at 10 different venues. Begin the night at EastEnd Arts Center or Living MI, where your ID will be checked and you’ll receive a wristband. The event goes from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The second night is a blues concert at Franke Center for the Arts. Albert Cummings blends traditional blues with a modern edge. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

Festivus Cardboard Sled Race - Feb. 14

Celebrate Valentine’s Day by watching sleds slip and slide (and sometimes crash) at Leila Arboretum.

It’s amazing what people can make with some cardboard boxes and paint. The sled race begins at 1 p.m., with awards following after.

Que the Cheese: BBQ & Mac ‘n’ Cheese Festival - Feb. 28

Winter calls for comfort food, and this festival combines two past popular food festivals. Get your fill of local barbecue and macaroni and cheese recipes. Indulge in mouth-watering brisket and pulled pork alongside every mac and cheese creation you can imagine—from classic cheddar to gourmet concoctions. It’s from 3 to 7 p.m. at Kellogg Arena
